I am officially insane.
63 days ago I started Insanity with the mentality that I was probably not going to finish. Like so many others who do the program, I figured I would taper off around 2 weeks to a month in. But after month 1 I was hooked.
What I did:
I had a few people ask about my diet after my first month results, but to be honest, I don't watch what I eat at all. I'm exclusively breastfeeding so I eat like a mad woman to keep up with the calories I burn from that and Insanity. On more than one occasion (ahem, everyday) I ate Oreos and chips immediately after my workout. However, my one rule is, I don't eat past 8 PM. I'm sure I could have gotten a lot more lean had I been more attentive to my diet.
I would highly recommend following the schedule:
And never skip a day. Sometimes on rest days I would run 2-3 miles. Or on recovery workout days I would run with my double jogger or by myself instead of doing Insanity (I wasn't super fond of the recovery workouts). But other than that I never skipped a day, even if that meant staying up until 11 to get my workout in.
This was hard work. It wasn't luck and it wasn't because I'm in my twenties, I totally resent being told that. I worked my butt off these past 63 days. There was never a single day I woke up and said "I'm SO PUMPED to do Insanity today! I can't wait to see that stupid Tania rub it in my face how fit she is.", but I did it. I pushed play every single day. Even if my kids refused to nap at the same time. Even if I barely got any sleep the night before. Even when Big S quit on me 2 weeks in and I had to do it alone. I had Shaun T's dumb voice in my head "Dig Deeper people!"
So I did.
And it paid off.
When I started I was 7 weeks post-partum and squeezing myself into these jeans. So I did.
And it paid off.
By the time Month 1 was completed, I had lost 9 pounds and 6 inches from my waist, hips and thighs. And my shorts were turned into "fat jeans".
Today, I've dropped 2 (almost 3) pants sizes. I lost a total of 19 pounds. I cut off 3 inches from my waist, 2 inches from my hips and another 4 from my thighs. And I chopped off all my hair (which was probably a good half a pound of split ends).
Besides my physical changes, my fitness changes were huge. I cut my mile time from 9:30/10 minute miles down to 8:30 minute miles (Only if I'm by myself. With both kids, it's back around 10 minute miles). I added at least 4 extra reps to every single exercise on the fitness test. And I went from on the verge of tears, in a pool of my own sweat, lying on the ground from pure exhaustion to keeping up with stupid Tania and THEN having the energy to run a mile or 2 even after the workout.
Insanity is no joke.
But so are the results.
If you've completed Insanity, how were your results? Did you do a second round? Should I try it again? Or should I try P90X? Focus T25? Train for another half marathon (Looking at one that's in my area around September)? Give me suggestions people!
